Although Chronoswiss's history is rather short compared to other tradition-rich watch manufactures, it is nevertheless impressive. The history of Chronoswiss is above all the story of Gerd Rüdiger Lang, the "man with the tic," as he calls himself. After his apprenticeship as a watchmaker Lang started working at Heuer (now TAG Heuer) in Switzerland in 1964. In 1969 he witnessed the joint development of the first automatic chronograph with Breitling. At that time, his passion for wristwatches with a time-stop function started, which he still collects today, and now counts a considerable number of over 700 chronographs. In 1980, the traditional company Heuer decided to close its German branch and Lang got the offer to provide the service for the Swiss chronograph specialist. The visionary Lang decided differently and dared to jump into professional independence.

The watchmaker, with a lot of courage, risky reaction and determination, founded his watchmaking factory in Munich in 1982 - a brave step, considering the fact that a historical upheaval in the watch industry took place in the 80s - the beginning of the quartz age. The name of the company is a word created by Lang himself: the Greek word "chronos" for time and "swiss" is a tribute to Swiss watchmaking. In the founding year the first mechanical chronograph with moon phase display and mineral glass base was presented under the name Chronoswiss. This was the beginning of the renaissance of mechanical timepieces. From 1984 onwards, the collection was successively developed, the coronation was represented by the "Regulateur" in 1988, the first standard watch with a regulator dial, followed in 1990 by the "Régulateur Automatique" with the exclusive Chronoswiss calibre C.122.

Around the mid-nineties the Greek models "Opus" and "Delphis" were launched. In 1998 followed the "Pathos" - the first skeletal double-hand chronograph with automatic movement. The "Opus" and "Pathos" models are the only watches worldwide, which are offered as a standard feature - a skeletization. The most requested models of the innovative manufactory are the Chronoscope, the Digiteur and the Torah. Chronoswiss watches are unmistakable in their appearance and bear witness to genuine manual work and craftsmanship: large-scale glasses with ribbed edges, the large old-fashioned, grippy onion crown, strong screwed bracelet strings and a sapphire crystal case back.

Chronoswiss mainly purchases its rough movements from the Swiss watchmakers ETA and Lemania. All works are, without exception, modified and / or refined according to the specifications of the company. In contrast to other manufactures, Chronoswiss does not hide the fact that they work with purchased components so that the supplier list is openly communicated. The assembly, form-fitting and the final inspection of the timepieces takes place in Switzerland, therefore Chronoswiss is allowed to wear the coveted "Swiss Made" label. In the meantime Chronoswiss disposes two exclusive movements - the automatic calibre C.121, which was developed by the Enicar manufactory in the 70s and the hand winding movement C.111, which came out in 1952 under the name "Marvin 700".

Besides the production of elegant, timeless, mechanical wrist watches, Lang is interested in classic car rallies. Chronoswiss has sponsored a number of races in recent years, including the "Chronoswiss Classics" organized for the first time in 2005, a combined event with classic cars and classic boats, the ADAC "Oltimer-Wandern" and from 2016 on, is Chronoswiss the main sponsor of the "Kitzbühler Alpenrallye". The development of the spectacular watch models such as Wristmaster, a rallye set for the wrist, consisting of two watches, the "Tachoscope" built on the occasion of Audis 100th company anniversary and the dynamic "Regulator Rallye Limited Edition" are enjoying great popularity not only with the friends of oldtimer rallies, but watch collectors worldwide.
