Our remarks
We are very excited to offer you this excellent ROLEX PROTOTYPE DIAL DAYTONA COSMOGRAPH, Ref.116520, MOONRAKER in stainless steel with steel Oyster bracelet.
Coming with its:
- over box and box
- warranty papers - Germany, P-Number, 1999/2000 sold 2001.
- green leather card holder
- calendar
- description booklets, both Oyster and DAYTONA.
Here we have a piece unique DAYTONA PROTOTYPE, with a matt white, opaque, structured (orange peel) Prototype dial (T SWISS - MADE T).
The smaller hour markers and the hands are still TRITIUM filled - not like the regular with LUMINOVA.
The 5 line dial has no serifs on the writing and the red DAYTONA writing is much more delicate.
The back of the dial is marked with a ROLEX 3 to show its a third party manufacturer (SINGER).
There are also ROLEX/EL PRIMERO 16520 Grené dial DAYTONAS made in the late 1990s, in order to find the new direction for the succeeding reference.
This particular watch here is pictured and bespoke in the ULIMATE ROLEX DAYTONA book by PUCCI/PAPALEO,
page 596-599.
Only a handful of these all different PROTOTYPE dials 16520 and 116520 are known and of course are handled as High-End collector pieces - for those who can afford not only to dream.
