We are excited to offer you this very good ROLEX vintage EXPLORER 1 LUFTWAFFE BUND Ref.1016 in stainless steel with its steel OYSTER bracelet with 580 end links.

Manufactured in 1979, this watches was specially made in 99 pieces for the German MILITARY BUNDESWEHR (BUND). In 1982, the BUND already ched out  these amazing ROLEX tool watches and exchanged them with mostly quartz watches.

The VERSORGUNSNUMMER NATO-BUND number on the back is 6645-12-154-4531. The 6645 of the reference stands for NATO, the 12 for Germany, the rest for national identification. Engraved through ROLEX in KÖLN.

Serial number is 5711xxx. The BUNDESWEHR EXPLORER watches are described in KONRAD KNIRIM, „MILITÄRUHREN“, Bottrop, 2002, page 618.

So, this is one of these extremly hard to find 1016 EXPLORER and the classic Tritium dial with Tritium Triangle on the top and 3-6-9 numerals SWISS -T <25.

Clearly one hell of a ROLEX collectors item and wonderful understatement piece on your wrist.
