The ROLEX Submariner was the first professional automatic diver's wristwatch that was water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. At the Basel watch fair in 1954, ROLEX presented the first Submariner with a matt black dial, luminous numerals and indices as well as luminous hands for hours, minutes and seconds. The watch also had a rotating bezel with markings every five minutes. The zero point was symbolized by an arrowhead pointing to the center with a centrally positioned luminous dot. Alredy in the first Bond films, Agent 007 relied on ROLEX Submariner wristwatches, a different ROLEX watch than in Ian Fleming's novels.
This 18K whit gold version with the nickname Cookie Monster features a black dial and a blue bezel.
